Wireless Access Point: This device, usually attached to a router, provides a wireless network connection to those devices that have wireless receivers. This allows, for example, users of notebook computers with wireless connectivity to browse the Internet from almost any room in the house, or, in the case of the iP4000R, to print from almost any room in the house.

In computer networking, a wireless access point (WAP or AP) is a device that allows wireless communication devices to connect to a wireless network using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and related standards. The WAP usually connects to a wired network, and can relay data between the wireless devices (such as computers or printers) and wired devices on the network.

Wireless access point or access point is a device that provides connectivity to Internet for WiFi enabled devices such as computers, laptops, mobile handsets. Most WAPs/APs use IEEE 802.11 standards. WAPs/APs are mostly used in homes/corporate offices/schools for Internet access.
IEEE 802.11 WAP/AP can typically communicate with ~30 client systems in range of 100 m. However its actual range of communication can vary depending on its placement, height above ground, nearby obstructions, frequency, type of antenna, interference from other devices.
