Wireless access point or access point is a device that provides connectivity to Internet for WiFi enabled devices such as computers, laptops, mobile handsets. Most WAPs/APs use IEEE 802.11 standards. WAPs/APs are mostly used in homes/corporate offices/schools for Internet access.

IEEE 802.11 WAP/AP can typically communicate with ~30 client systems in range of 100 m. However its actual range of communication can vary depending on its placement, height above ground, nearby obstructions, frequency, type of antenna, interference from other devices.
