A typical home wireless network transmits radio signals in the same general frequency range as microwave ovens. Yet compared to ovens and even cell phones, wireless network cards and access points transmit at very low power, anywhere from 100 to 1000 times less. In addition, WLANs send radio signals only intermittently, during data transmisssion, whereas cell phones transmit continously while powered on. Overall, the cumulative exposure to microwave radiation from a WLAN remains much, much less than exposure from other radio frequency devices.

RF radiation can cause the molecules in biological material to vibrate and thereby generate heat. It is considered that rises in tissue or body temperature of about 1.0 oC or more are required before any adverse effects will occur. These temperature rises will not occur unless the exposure level is greatly in excess of the radition statndards set for such devices. Exposure to the low level of RF radiation emitted from base station antennas will not, in fact, cause any noticeable temperature rise. Thus possibily no side effect. Note that if radition decreases by the distance (1/r*r) where r is the distance from device.
