I think EGSM just refers to EDGE (Enhanced Datarates for GSM Evolution), EGPRS.
A bit faster - 2 to 3 times - packet data connectivity (than "regular" GPRS).EGSM is an expansion of GSM. The EGSM operating frequency extends to 10MHz lower than the GSM 900 band.

There's not really much difference between the two. Probably the biggest difference is that GSM can be used more if you plan on traveling ...

In GSM, we have 124 ARFCN
In EGSM, we have 174 ARFCN

Both are using 900 frequency but
Range of GSM is:
uplink 890-915
downlink 935-960
Range of EGSM is:
uplink 880-915
Downlink 925-960
