Stream Control Transmission Protocol is a reliable transport protocol operating on top of IP. It provides acknowledged error free non duplicated transfer of data with flow control. STCP also detects data corruption, loss of data and duplication of data by using checksums and sequence numbers. A selective retransmission mechanism is applied to correct loss or corruption of the data.
