The cellular wireless communication system 100 includes a Mobile Switching Center (MSC) 101 , Serving GPRS Support Node/Serving EDGE Support Node

MSC (mobile switching center) is used for call switching and it provide same function as that of telephone Exchange.
MSC do following things as
Call processing
Operation & Maintenance Support
Billing
etc

The Mobile Switching Center(MSC) is responsible for the communications paths and overall operation of the network. It oricesses calls from both land and mobile originated calls,and routes them to the proper destination.The IS-95 standard does not specify how the MSC operates and what functions it performs.The specific operations of anMSC's typical block diagram.An MSC contains a switching assembly,controllers,communications links,subscriber databases,operator terminals,data archive,power supplies and backup energy sources.
