In general the concept of fading only in practical environment is fading occurs on basis of different scales as fast and slow fading but practically mostly depend on distance from transmitter to the receiver because we judge it through receive level e.g rice fading which works for dominant path

In telecommunication fading usually occurs due to multipath propagation and the reduction of signal received level.
