SDES stands for Session Description Protocol Security Descriptions for Media Streams and is a way to negotiate the key for Secure Real-time Transport Protocol. It has been standardized by IETF in July 2006 as RFC 4568

SDES – Establishes a CNAME that identifies the session. If the stream errors out, the SSRC might change. The CNAME remains the same for a given session even if the SSRC changes.
• A given amount of bandwidth is allocated for the RTCP channel
• The number of SR and RR packets sent per second depends on the allocated bandwidth
