A wireless LAN does not use cable to transmit signals, but rather uses radio or infrared to transmit packets through the air.
WLAN is a wirelessly connected LAN, such as an IEEE 802.11 network.

WLAN is basically a LAN of range 100 m and uses air and form of radio interface to communicate b/w devices and the equipment uses WAP wireless Access point
