A standing wave may be formed when a wave is transmitted into one end of a transmission line and is reflected from the other end by an impedance mismatch. VSWR is the ratio of maximum to minimum voltage in a standing wave pattern.

In transmission line the term VSWR shows the voltage level or ratio of maximum and minimum voltage also it shows the quality of the signal

It is voltage standing wave ratio. It is the ratio of max voltage to the min voltage along the transmission line.
