POE is sending power through Ethernet cable for the end devices.
consider a voip phone connected to a Ethernet cable. The phone should be powered up by the external power source. so if you use POE router or switches . the power will be provided to the phone through the ethernet cable itself by the router or switch to the phone.
Its saving the resource.
