in Basic Router Configuration Routers need a little more configuration than switches to function properly; every interface that you want to use needs an IP address and mask, as well as to be enabled. You will probably need to add static routes or perhaps run a dynamic routing protocol. You need to configure your serial port for connectivity as well.
