In general Both ARP and RARP provide different services to Network as well as Data link layer.

Both ARP and RARP provide different services to Network as well as Data link layer.

ARP stands for address resolution protocol, it helps in translating ip addresses into MAC addresses.

ARP function is is to ask every end device it communicates whether or not it has the IP address. End device with different IP will drop the packet and one that has the identity will respond back.

ARP provide service to Network and Data link layer.
