Surrounded on two sides by the historical Deepor Beel (a huge natural Wetland now declared a bird sanctuary by the Govt. of India) and ever –green hills on the outskirts of Guwahati city, about 13 km on the west, Assam Engineering College spells a magical impact on the visitors. Assam Engineering College was established in 1955, the first undergrad uate engineering college in the northeastern India. It started with Civil Engineering discipline, and within a few years other departments came into existence. With a well spread out lush green campus, AEC has been the hub centre of many intellectual and extra-curricular activities in Assam for almost half a century.

Walchand College of Engineering is situated midway between Sangli and Miraj cities at Vishrambaug, Sangli. The WCE campus is located on nearly 102.50 acres of land on the southern side of Sangli – Miraj road. In 1947, college made a modest beginning with Civil Engineering undergraduate course. (B.E. Civil), with an intake capacity of 60. Subsequently undergraduate courses in electrical and mechanical engineering, B.E.(Elec) and B.E.(Mech), with intake capacity of 60 each were introduced during the years 1950 and 1951 respectively.

COEP's precursor, The Poona Engineering Class and Mechanical School was opened in July 1854, its aim being to provide suitable instruction for subordinate officers in the Public Works Department. JNEC was established in 1983 under the aegis of Mahatma Gandhi Mission Trust lead by Chairman Kamalkishor Kadam having got his Engineering Education from IIT Mumbai. He had also been education minister of Maharashtra.
