Class D ip address ranges from 224-239 is a multicast range use for multicasting in which multiple devices is a receiver and one source e.g. internet radio.

Class A: 0-126. 127 is a Broadcast
Class B: 128-191
Class C: 192-223
Class D: 224-239
Class E: 240-255.

It has a first bit value of 1, second bit value of 1, third bit value of 1 and fourth bit value of 0. The other 28 bits are used to identify the group of computers the multicast message is intended
