A DVB carrier is a specific type of satellite carrier that has certain characteristics (modulation, coding, framing, etc.) that meet the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) standard. Because the DVB parameters are standardized the DAC is able to not only measure the signal strength, but can demodulate the signal and read certain header information. This allows you to customize your tracking to a specific carrier by defining the symbol rate, code rate, and Network Identifier (NID) of that particular DVB carrier. This helps to avoid "false locking" to a neighboring satellite as it's very unlikely that a carrier of the exact same characteristics are on the next satellite.
