Sorry for above answer, I want to give it in other question but mistakenly submit here.
---------------------------
An SCPC carrier is any carrier on the satellite that may be used for tracking (SCPC stands for Single Channel Per Carrier and is an old satellite term for a user's carrier that is dedicated to a single use). A DVB carrier is a specific type of satellite carrier that has certain characteristics (modulation, coding, framing, etc.) that meet the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) standard. Because the DVB parameters are standardized the DAC is able to not only measure the signal strength, but can demodulate the signal and read certain header information. This allows you to customize your tracking to a specific carrier by defining the symbol rate, code rate, and Network Identifier (NID) of that particular DVB carrier. This helps to avoid "false locking" to a neighboring satellite as it's very unlikely that a carrier of the exact same characteristics are on the next satellite.
