BTS's are gateways to mobile networks, they pump a signal in all directions upto 3 miles. You can find them hidden in a variety of locations like petrol stations, supermarkets and billboards. BTS signals carry upto 8 time slots (Channels) and 7 of these slots are reserved for mobile connections and the 8th is for the network to manetain and manage calls.
