An interface for letting a program communicate with another program. The IMS-MGW may support media conversion,The Policy Decision Function (PDF) acts as a policy decision point for serviceThat's the way 3GPP IMS specification normally refers to the IP Network.

When the Interrogating-CSCF manages a session with another network, it can employ functions
to this interface. Topology Hiding Interface Gateway (THIG) hides information about the IMS from
other carriers. This might include a Proxy Server and a Network Address Translation
(NAT) to hide the network information. Security Gateway (SEG) establishes a security segment to another network. If
security outside the network is broken, the security inside the network is still
preserved.
