Vodafone launches a new service called Car Card. The Car Card package allows for the synchronized operation of handsets, and built-in car telephones. Vodafone customers using the Car Card service receive a second SIM card to be used in the car telephone.
In November, 1993 Pannon GSM Telecommunications Ltd. signed a concession agreement and in March of the following year started to operate on the 900 MHz frequency. In 1999 the company won a tender for the 1800 MHz frequency. In November, 2000 it started to operate on the 1800 MHz frequency in Budapest, and in March 2001, the whole country.

In December 1998, the company listed its shares in the Athens and London stock exchange, while in July 2004 it de-listed from ATHEX. Vodafone Group Plc. is the company’s major shareholder with 99.8% of Vodafone Greece shares.
Cosmote is the largest mobile network operator in Greece, headquartered in Athens.
