CCI’s founders, James Klungness and Charles Henry, began their cable television careers in 1955 with the development of a Community Access Television System (CATV) in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Henkels & McCoy, founded in 1923 by John B. Henkels, Jr., started with tree-trimming, landscaping and building tennis courts, none of which we do today. The Great Depression nearly drove the company to ruin, but a hurricane in New England in 1938 proved to be the turning point in our history. While the storm was still blowing its way through the Northeast, Henkels & McCoy rallied, recruiting teams of linemen to send to the area. Just hours after the winds subsided, Henkels & McCoy crews rolled in to restore utility services.
